About our art camps

Our 4-Day Art Camps are designed for artists who are ready to dive deep into creativity. Artists spend full days in the studio Monday through Thursday, building skills, exploring materials, and creating meaningful artwork in a supportive, inspiring environment.

Each camp centers around a broad, engaging theme and includes four unique art projects--one per day--across a variety of media such as drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, printmaking, and fiber arts. Projects are thoughtfully designed so younger artists can be successful while older artists are encouraged to add complexity, detail, and personal style.

But, Orange Easel Summer Camps are about more than finished artwork.
Throughout the week, artists enjoy:
  • Creative games and team-building activities
  • Music, movement, and social connection
  • Free creative time to explore ideas independently
A studio atmosphere that feels both playful and purposeful
Our wide age range naturally supports sibling groups and friends, and our experienced instructors know how to guide artists at different developmental levels within the same space.

We end each camp with a joyful Art Show, giving artists the chance to display their work, practice talking about their creative process, and celebrate what they’ve accomplished—building confidence that lasts long after camp ends.

These immersive experiences are perfect for families looking to maintain a school-day routine during summer while offering their child something meaningful, enriching, and genuinely creative.

FAQs

What does a typical day look like?
Each day includes one main art project, plus creative games, free art time, movement, music, and social activities. We balance focused art-making with plenty of breaks so artists stay engaged and energized all day.

What are they going to make?
Each camp makes at least four projects.  In each camp, we try to have drawing project, a painting project, a sculpture project, and a project that is either mixed media, printmaking, fiber, or metals.  In addition to the daily project, artists can make more art during our open creative stations in the afternoon.

Who can come to camp?
Summer Art Camps are designed for ages 4-12 years.  We divide our campers by into two classrooms for arrival, project time, lunch time, and dismissal.  This division is roughly by age with the younger campers in one room and the older campers in another classroom.  Both classroom do the exact same projects.  Parents can request to have children--siblings or friends--placed together (or separately!).

How do you accommodate such a wide age range?
Projects are designed with multiple entry points. Younger artists can complete a successful “core” version, while older artists are encouraged to add detail, complexity, and personal style. All artists, regardless of age, have the same supplies, access, and time.  Our instructors actively support artists at different levels within the same space.

Will my child bring artwork home?
Yes! Artists complete four finished projects during the week and take everything home after our end-of-week Art Show.

Are these camps appropriate for beginners?
Absolutely. No prior art experience is required. Artists just need curiosity, a willingness to try new things, and an interest in creating.

Can siblings or friends attend together?
Yes! Many campers sign up with siblings or friends. Our camps naturally support mixed ages and abilities, and working alongside peers often boosts confidence and creativity.

Is there a sibling discount?
Due to supply costs, there are no sibling discounts for summer camps.

Is this camp more like childcare or enrichment?
Our camps are enrichment-focused. While we follow a school-day routine, the experience is intentionally designed to foster creativity, independence, and confidence through art.

Can my 3-year-old come if they are almost four and really mature?
No, all campers must be 4 or older at the time of camp.
Additionally, artists must be generally happy to be at camp, including drop-off time.  And they must be able to use the bathroom independently.

What do we do about lunch?
Artists should bring a sack lunch for each day of camp.  A morning snack is provided.  Please note any food allergies in your registration so we can assure a safe environment for everyone.

How many camps should we sign up for?
Most families choose one or two camps that match their child’s interests. Each camp theme and project lineup is unique, so artists can return for multiple weeks without repeating the same experience.
