Orange Easel Junior Staff

Orange Easel artists who have completed elementary school (5th grade) are invited to join the teaching team and help in younger classes and camps!

Requirements

All Junior Staff applicants must:
  • Be current Orange Easel students (within the past 12 months)
  • Have taken a minimum 9 months (one school year) of Orange Easel classes
  • Have ability to interact clearly and kindly with peers and younger children
  • Show punctuality, responsibility, and a commitment to scheduled volunteer hours
  • Exhibit maturity, empathy, and a professional attitude to serve as a role model for younger students
  • Agree to follow studio guidelines, safety protocols, and instructor instructions consistently

Real-World Experience: Gain your first job experience through a structured application, interview, onboarding, and training process.
Supportive Environment: Work in a positive setting where instructors are dedicated to teaching you how to be a great employee and team member.
Leadership Development: Practice and enhance your leadership skills by leading small groups.
Responsibility & Care: Learn how to maintain and care for the studio space, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility.
Pathway to Paid Positions: Many junior staffers (volunteers) transition to a paid role when they turn 16​

Responsibilities:

Assist with Classroom Setup & Cleanup: Help instructors by setting-up and breaking-down activities.
Lead Small Groups: Guide small groups of students during lessons and activities.
Provide One-on-One Assistance: Work individually with students who need extra support.
Prep Supplies: Organize and prepare materials for upcoming projects.
Supervise Young Artists: Ensure a safe and engaging environment for younger students.
Maintain the Studio Space: Clean and tidy the studio after classes or camps.

Junior Staff Application

​​The application process happens three times per year:
Fall semester (Sept-Dec) - Applications accepted August 1st-August 15th
Spring semester (Jan-May) - Applications accepted December 1st-December 15th
Summer (June-July) - Applications accepted March 15th-April 13th

Current Junior Staff do not need to apply again.  Fill our your summer availability by April 23rd.

What to expect - Summer 2025

Applications received March 15th-April 13th
Interviews happen April 14th-18th
Job offers go out by April 20th
Availability due by April 23rd
Summer Work Schedule posted by May 1st
